Eighty-six new cases of #COVID19 have been reported; 70 in Lagos 7 in FCT 3 in Katsina 3 in Akwa Ibom 1 in Jigawa 1 in Bauchi 1 in Borno As at 11:50 pm 19th April there are 627 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Discharged: 170 Deaths: 21

   Directors, Producers, aspiring film makers and students came in their numbers for the opening ceremony of the ninth edition of BOBTV.
    The expo which kicked off at the Ladi Kwali Conference centre, Sheraton Hotel, Abuja had top government personalities, policy influencers, opinion moulders as well as notable figures from the Nigerian movie scene grace the event. Students from various universities around the country also arrived at the venue to prepare for the university challenge.

   Notable figures who attended the opening ceremony include the minister of finance and coordinating minister for the economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Enugu state Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Joel Mmamel, Chairman of event, Efere Ozako (CEO Maxarro LLC), Ace film maker, Lancelot Oduah Imasuen, Francis Duru, Director, Chris Obi-Rapu (Director of the first Nollywood movie, Living in Bondage) among other guests.

   Starting with an accreditation session for arriving guests and participants from around the country and outside Nigeria, the Expo was opened by the chairman of the event, Chinenye Uzoukwu (MD, Infosoft). The Minister of finance and coordinating minister for the economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala also gave a keynote speech on the government’s support to the creative industry and the President’s aim to create job opportunities.

    Executive Producer of AMAA, Peace Fiberesima and Production Designer, Pat Nebo were later presented the BOBTV Honours awards by popular novelist and writer, Dr. Kaine Agary in recognition of their service to the Nigerian creative industry.

“The movie industry has improved to an extent that has shocked me and I am very pleased with the platform that BOBTV has created. The industry is all we have so we have to put in our best in order to meet international standards.”Pat Nebo says.

   Peace Fiberesima expressed her appreciation by advising other directors, producers and aspiring film makers to keep doing what they know how to do best. “My parents did not accept the fact that I wanted to do film so I did what they wanted before I went back to my original dreams. We all have a passion for the creative industry so let us all work towards making what we believe in a reality.”

  The first day of the expo ended with a cocktail session at the Silverbird Cinemas where guests mingled and a special screening of Chris Ihidero’s short film on rape, “Big Daddy”.
   Other activities scheduled to hold during the Expo include seminars, an autograph session with the cast of MNET’s Tinsel, workshops, exhibitions, university challenges etc.

    The Premiere of “Adesuwa” by Lancelot Imasuen Oduwa will also hold on Wednesday, March 142012. There will also films on women trafficking by Dr. Joy Emordi as well as films from popular filmmakers from Liberia, Mali and Ghana.
